Montel Williams Asks for Medical Marijuana License in Washington DC
Based from the records, Abatin Wellness Center, a non-profit group, is showing some interests in starting medical marijuana businesses in Washington.
In Sacramento, California, a similar dispensary name also planned to operate earlier this year with Williams, who suffered from multiple sclerosis.
Frederick D. Cooke Jr., a Washington-based lawyer who accompanied Abatin during the licensing process, proved to The Washington Post that Williams plays a major role in the said group.
"He is not the managing director or the driving guy," Cooke said. "But he is certainly at a level more involved than being a face of the organization. He knows a lot about the organization, and he speaks and gets resources. He does stuff that makes the organization go."
Jonathan Franks, a Los Angeles-based publicist for Williams and Abatin, said, "This is not a spokesman-for-hire deal."
Based from Washington’s Medical marijuana Law, convicted individuals are not allowed to join in the said program.
Application to manage cultivation centers are due this September 16 and its dispensary application period will follow
